This photo shows the almost completed train bridge which spans the Columbia River from the old Sproat's Landing site to what will become Castlegar Junction. The bridge became operational in 1902, and led to the demise of Robson as a terminus for the Columbia & Kootenay Railway. Robson retained the spur track for a while to handle freight traffic (mainly fruit), but after the First World War the track was removed and the railbed, which included a long trestle across Pass Creek, became a road. The Robson station-house was relocated to Slocan Junction. |
