This colour photo (loaned to me by Bruce Rohn) captures the closing of an era. The battered and tired-looking "Minto" is docked at the Renata wharf near the end of her long life. Soon she was retired from service and life on the Arrow lakes changed forever. A decade later many communities whose existence was so strongly interwoven with the venerable steamers disappeared under the waters of the Arrow reservoir. |
