In this panoramic early view of the mill, taken from the train trestle, we see from left to right: the jack-ladder leading to the sawmill, the power-house in front of it, the beehive burner, the dry kiln (below the centre of the train bridge), the planer mill (marked by a wisp of smoke), and the shipping area. Note the accumulation of mill debris in the foreground; this currently underlies the "cottonwood jungle" of the present setting, providing rather poor anchorage for the trees.
